Chris Horton rescues passengers from a tunnel

RAILCOPS
(4 x 40 mins)
TX: January 2003, BBC1

RailCops follows the British Transport Police - the specialist force coping with Britain's failing railways and London's infamously unreliable tube system, exposing the humour and drama of life and death on the tracks.

With over 10,000 miles of track, 3,000 stations, a travelling population of over 5.5 million a day, there are only 2,123 officers to police it all.

Follow Chris Horton, as he evacuates passengers stuck in a tube tunnel in Whitechapel. Sgt Mark Clelland deals with an aggressive drunk at Cardiff. Illegal immigrants are found by PC Bob Gee in Kent. PCs Clare Saunders and Paul Rowe battle with commuters in London's Kings Cross and acting Iinspector Lisa Garrett gets the call all BTP officers dread, a "one under".
