IN SEARCH OF LAW AND ORDER - USA
(3 x 60 mins)
TX: February 1999, Channel 4/KQED-TV/PBS
Shot in Boston, Fort Worth, Texas and a poor suburb of San Fransisco,
these films deal with violent mayhem on a major scale. They track
good examples of how to challenge juvenile violence within and beyond
the justice system.
- The Limits of Justice - Gangs with guns and drugs were out of
control until Boston prosecutors reached beyond the justice system
for partners to stop an epidemic of juvenile crime.
- Young, Armed and Dangerous - Texas has the largest prison population.
It also tries imaginative ways to save violent youngsters from
lives of crime and passion, and heal their victims.
- Catching them Early - Richmond is a poor suburb of San Francisco
driven by ethnic conflicts. Health workers and school train ex-gang
members to end the spiral of violence.
