Great Ormond Street Series 3

Great Ormond Street Hospital doctors offer some of the world’s most cutting edge, often high-risk surgery. Their operations can save and transform children’s lives. But what if your child doesn’t want the surgery? What if they are determined to go ahead but the risks are unacceptably high? What if they must make these decisions during puberty, when their bodies and attitudes are changing fundamentally? This series brings a new voice to the dilemmas faced in this unique hospital every day: the child’s.

The previous two series have been praised for their powerful stories and compelling dilemmas, but at times have been harrowing to watch. This new series will have all the drama of the stories and the doctors’ dilemmas, but will have a different tone. Warmer and more uplifting, with a greater engagement in the emotional journey of the child. And, significantly, each film will contain a scene of transformation for a child whose story we have followed.

The doctors’ dilemma of whether to operate or not – the fine balance of the risk versus the benefit for the child - will remain at the heart of each film.
