Films of Record have gained unique access to the highly controversial world of child protection social workers. They receive emergency calls every day from marginalised families, whose evidence and claims must be carefully assessed, while managing huge case loads. They must also juggle the sensitivities of working with other agencies. These are some of the demands they face daily. Then there's the paper work, low pay, a staffing and recruitment crisis - and the constant knowledge that they are only one step away from a child's tragic death and the ensuing witch-hunt.
Coping with all this, how do dedicated social workers manage to keep children safe?
